Sure RE1 had bad acting but that was about it. Let's compare Silent Hill to another game that came out the same year, Resident Evil 3, you can't tell me Silent Hill is better. RE 2 and 3 are way better than SH1. Also....the Riley Reid joke was lame, she was like 4 or 5 when RE1 came out.

The opening cutscenes are crushingly boring and do nothing for the player being interested in the main character (or even the other characters). With a bit of effort and charm in the writing and presentation, they could have made the main character a likable antihero with some eventual character development, even if the isekai premise and setting are well-worn and old hat at this point, but the entire opening feels like a huge misstep. It needed to be at least engaging, otherwise any player, female or male, will just feel complete indifference.

In the OG her materia never had color didn’t glow/react to anything like a normal materia. It was entirely mute until she prayed in the forgotten capital before her death. If anything the whispers taking the power from the materia sets Aerith on her proper “fate”
